The longship is able to jump over other pieces by moving 1 square orthogonally, then in the same direction 2 squares diagonally (like a knight jumps), the full move must be taken. see new pieces
The Jarl cannot leap over other pieces, but has an initial 1, 2 or 3 step move similar to the pawn, this can be taken in any single direction including orthogonally and diagonally. see new pieces
